Club Announcements
This is very unfortunate, but last practice of the Semester will be this Friday November 18th.
We recently received an email saying that the lyon center basketball gyms will go under renovations starting November 19th and will be closed until spring semester. As such, we will no longer be able to hold practices for the remainder of the semester.
However, there are still badminton clubs available near campus and our team plays there on a weekly places. Please let us know if you are interested and we can arrange something!
Pre-Season Results
I would like to announce the results for the pre-season tournament. During the event, we played against UCLA, UCSD, UCR and UCI. Though there was no school rank, our performance was definitely among the top 2 schools. We have definitely started the season strong! Thank you to everyone who came out and played.
I would like to congratulate:
Harold Juang- Men Single's Champion
Benson and Joyce- 2nd place for mixed doubles
Linda and Joyce- 2nd place for women's doubles
MVP award goes to William Yang for beating remarkable opponents in Men Singles (3rd/4th place in men singles)
New Rules
Due to the increase in members over the past couple of weeks, we are establishing new court rules to make practices run smoother and more efficiently. This will effective starting on Friday, September 16th. These rules will be applied when there are more than 16 members showing up to practice; in other words, when there are people waiting to play on the side lines.
1. Signup sheets
From now on, there will be sign up sheets on each of the four courts. Please sign up as a pair, if you don't have a partner please let us know and we can organize one for you. If you want to play against another pair, you are allowed to write your names together. Once you finished playing, please cross off your name off the list. This purpose of this is ensure that everyone gets a chance to play.
***Please do not sign up for more than 1 court at a time.***
2. Match rules= 1 game of 21: rally score
4 members will rotate on to the court at one time. Please limit your warm-up to 5 minutes. Once both sides are ready, ask for a new shuttlecock and start a game.
3. Drop-in Fee- For members who want to bring their friends to practice:
Members are more than welcome to bring their friends and such to practice, but we require a $4 drop-in fee per person. This will give them access to our club birds and rackets. We strongly advise you to avoid bringing your friends in on Friday, since its our busiest day of the week.
Club Officers
At least one of us will be always around during practice. We will try our best to accommodate to your questions, needs, and conundrums!
