1. Please bring your health insurance information to the first meeting to complete a waiver form. You'll need to know your provider and policy number.
*those with USC insurance will also need such information
2. Membership dues are $30 for club and $50 for team (per semester); explanation between the two is explained below.
Team vs. Club
The distinction between TEAM and CLUB is that team members will be able to play in matches against other local schools such as UCLA, UC Irvine, UC San Diego, Cal Poly SLO, etc. There are also tournaments at the beginning and ends of the season. Those eligible to play in league matches will attend away games and represent USC in the Southern California Collegiate Badminton League (SCCBL).
Club members and team members will be using different types of feather birds. The quality of the bird becomes more important at the competitive level. Team members will be using higher grade birds (compared to the club members) in order to bring the best performance out for each team member. If there are any questions or concerns about this please contact me.
All members must pay dues by Wednesday February 1st. Please understand that there is a fee because we provide both rackets and feather birdies to all our members during practices times. We need to know what are budget is in order to organize events and so forth for the upcoming year. As an incentive, we still start asking those who haven't paid dues to pay the drop-in fee until they pay their dues starting on Friday February 3rd.
Court Rule- New Rules- These will take effect on Friday, Sept 16th, 2011
1. Birdies
We have noticed birdies are being used up relatively fast, so from now on...
New birdies are for games only.
If you are there to warm up, rally, or hit around, please use old birds. There are old, usable birds in the green bins, as well as on the courts.
If there are no usable birds around (which is possible), please ask one of the officers to give you a new birdie.
If we find you just taking birdies, you will feel Terry's Wrath.
This is to ensure we will have enough birdies for the rest of the year. 2. Signup Sheets- will be used when people are waiting
There will be one for each court
Please sign up as pairs.
Once you finish playing, cross your names off the list
***Please do not sign up on more than 1 sheet at the same time***
From now on, there will be sign up sheets on each of the four courts. Please sign up as a pair, if you don't have a partner please let us know and we can organize one for you. If you want to play against another pair, you are allowed to write your names together. Once you finished playing, please cross off your name off the list. This purpose of this is ensure that everyone gets a chance to play
3. Court Regulations
Please limit your warm-ups to 5 mins and then start playing a match (doubles)
A total of 1 game (21 points rally score) will be played, after please let those who are waiting play...
Please refrain from playing singles when there is court congestion../
This will be strictly enforced, so everyone can get a fair amount of court time.
4. Drop in Fee
From now on there will be a drop in fee of$4 for those who want to check the club out.
The fee also applies if club members decide to bring friends to play during club hours.
Also, if you forgot your dues you will have to pay drop-in fee until you bring your club dues.
This is to make it fair for those who paid club dues. Also, people who are dropping in will be using new birdies; we don't really make any money out of this.

Safety Guidelines & Court Etiquette
Do not step into courts in play, maintain a safe distance from court boundaries (min. ~1 ft.)
When your birdie falls in another court in play, wait until the point is finished to pick up your bird.
When your game is interrupted (eg. basketballs, birdies), stop the game immediately and replay the point.
Make sure the racket shaft is securely attached to the grip before hitting.
